How to Pick the Right Oil Seal Material for Trucks and Trailers?

Nitrile Rubber(NBR): 
Usage: Used in the production of O-rings, oil seals, leather bowls, etc., suitable for general hydraulic and pneumatic systems as static or dynamic seals. 
Temperature:-40℃-+120℃. 
Feature:Good resistance to oil, heat and abrasion. Widely used in the production of sealing products, but is not suitable for use in phosphoric acid grease series of hydraulic oil and gear oil containing polar additives.

Rubber-plastic Composite Materials( RP):
Usage:Used in the production of O-rings, Y-rings, dust rings, etc., suitable for construction machinery and a variety of high-pressure hydraulic seals.  
Temperature:-30℃-+120℃.
Feature:The elastic modulus of the material is large, high strength, other properties with NBR.

Fluorine Rubber(FKM、FPM):
Usage: Suitable for high temperature and chemical resistance. Sealing of flame-resistant hydraulic oil, widely used in metallurgy, electric power and other industries. 
Temperature:-20℃-+250℃. 
Feature:Heat resistance, acid and alkali resistance and other chemicals, oil resistance (including phosphate ester series hydraulic oil) for all lubricants, gasoline, hydraulic oil, synthetic oil.

Silicone Rubber(PMQ、VMQ):
Usage:Suitable for high speed rotation under high and low question and sealing of various food machinery.  
Temperature:-60℃-+250℃.
Feature:Good heat and cold resistance. Small compression permanent deformation, but low mechanical strength.Center bearing 15

Ethylene Propylene Rubber(EPDM):
Usage:Seals for refrigerators and refrigeration machinery  
Temperature:-50℃-+150℃
Feature:Good weather resistance, aging resistance in air, general oil resistance, resistance to Freon and other refrigerants.

Polyacrylate(ACM):
Usage:Suitable for all kinds of automobileoil seals, all kinds of gearboxes, transmission seals, can be resistant to medium and high temperatures.  
Temperature:-20℃-+120℃
Feature:Heat resistance is better than NBR. It can work in a variety of lubricants containing polar additives, hydraulic oil, petroleum-based hydraulic oil, poor water resistance.

Polyurethane (PU, AU, EU):
Usage:Used in the production of Y-ring, dust ring, etc., used in construction machinery and a variety of hydraulic system sealing.
Temperature:-40℃-+120℃.
Feature:Good oil resistance, temperature resistance, especially good abrasion resistance, high compressive strength, better impact resistance.

Nitrile Cloth(FAB):
Usage:Making cloth seals, suitable for engineering machinery, metallurgical equipment and a variety of high-pressure system sealing.
Temperature:-30℃-+120℃.
Feature:Composite by NBR and cotton, high strength, good abrasion resistance, oil resistance than NBR slightly decreased, other properties with NBR.

Polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE):
Usage:Making guide ring, wear-resistant ring, retaining ring, for machinery commonly used sealing materials, widely used in metallurgy, industry, engineering machinery, light industry machinery.  
Temperature:-55℃-+260℃.
Feature:Good chemical stability. Good heat resistance, cold resistance, resistance to oil, water, vapor, drugs and other media, high mechanical strength. Pressure

Polyformaldehyde(POM):
Usage:For the production of various guide rings, retaining rings.
Temperature:-40℃-+140℃.
Feature:Heat resistance, temperature resistance, good abrasion resistance, high compressive strength, good impact resistance, good self-lubricating properties, good dimensional stability. But poor flexing.

Nylon(PA):
Usage:For making guide rings, support rings, compression rings, retaining rings.
Temperature:-40℃-+120℃.
Feature:Oil resistance, temperature resistance, wear resistance is good, compression resistance is general, better impact resistance, poor dimensional stability.

Phenolic Cloth(PFC、PDF):
Usage: For the manufacture of guide rings, support rings, compression rings, bushings.
Temperature:-40℃-+120℃.
Feature:Good oil resistance, wear resistance, high compressive strength.

Ultra-high Molecular Weight Polyethylene(UHMWPE):
Usage:For the production of seals, sliders, wear plates, tubes and profiles for aqueous media.  Temperature:-260℃-+100℃.
Feature:Impact resistance, fatigue resistance, low coefficient of friction. Excellent abrasion resistance, no water absorption.

Polyetherketone(PEEK):
Usage:Automotive bearings, seals and brake pads, piston rings.
Temperature:-260℃-+260℃.
Feature:High temperature resistance, fatigue resistance, low coefficient of friction and abrasion resistance, easy processing, poor impact strength.

Polyimide(PI):
Usage:Used in the manufacture of high-temperature, high-vacuum conditions of friction reduction, self-lubricating parts.
Temperature:-260℃-+320℃.
Feature:High temperature resistance, high strength, wear resistance, brittle, not suitable for long-term outdoor use.
