This is a relatively special structural form, which is different from ordinary oil seals, and generally consists of two parts: an outer ring and an inner ring. The outer ring is a bit like our ordinary skeleton oil seal, but it is usually specially designed, such as positioning, dustproof, oil storage and other structures. Its special place is the internal slip ring. When working, the slip ring rotates with the rotating shaft, and the sealing lip only cooperates and rubs with the slip ring.
The box type oil seal is characterized by strong anti-pollution ability and can be used in places with high pollution, such as heavy-duty vehicle axles, concrete machinery, agricultural machinery, etc. The service life of the cartridge oil seal is generally longer than that of ordinary oil seals, so the replacement cycle is longer, and it is also suitable for occasions where it is difficult to replace the oil seal. The biggest advantage of the box-type oil seal is that the processing requirements for the shaft are greatly reduced. It can be seen from the structure in the figure that the sealing lip is not in contact with the shaft surface, so compared with ordinary oil seals, the surface roughness and surface hardness requirements of the shaft are greatly reduced. Therefore, the overall processing cost will also be reduced.
